The New Marvel Exhibit at Treasure Island

Things To Do In Las Vegas
It’s clear that the Marvel superhero franchise is no passing fad. With movies that consistently break world records and television shows that earn rave reviews, there’s no sign of the phenomenon stopping anytime soon, either. So, Marvel fans will be happy to know that experience doesn’t end with the movies, shows, and comics. This summer, Treasure Island opened the Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N., an interactive exhibit that puts you in the middle of the superhero action. Here’s what you need to know before you visit.

The World of the Avengers

The Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N.–which stands for Scientific Training and Tactical Intelligence Operative Network–places visitors into their own Marvel movie, putting them in the shoes of a S.H.I.E.L.D. trainee. Made up of rooms dedicated to each Marvel character, the exhibit is filled with multiple props and pieces that were actually used in the films, including costumes and weapons. If you’ve ever wondered how you size up against Tony Stark’s Iron Man suits, or you’re curious about how big The Hulk’s fists really are, this is your chance to find out.

Self-Guided Interactivity

One of the best parts of S.T.A.T.I.O.N. is that as a visitor, you aren’t just an observer. You get to participate, too. Your S.H.I.E.L.D. trainee status means that, while you learn all you can about the Avengers, you can also take part in various interactive activities spread through the training facility. The standout interactive feature of the exhibit is the Iron Man helmet simulator, which has been a big hit with fans. The device uses a camera that reads your facial expressions and projects your face into a mock heads-up display. Using your eyes, you can aim and shoot at targets that show up on the display.

Don’t Forget Your Smartphone

The interactivity isn’t limited to the exhibit itself. Visitors are encouraged to install a complementary smartphone app, which is compatible with both iPhones and Android devices. As you and your group pace around the S.T.A.T.I.O.N., the app updates according to which room you’re currently in. Plug in some headphones, and Tony Stark’s virtual assistant, F.R.I.D.A.Y., will you give you an audio tour. Along your way through the exhibit, you’ll answer trivia questions about the Marvel characters, and if you pass, you win an honorary S.H.I.E.L.D. badge at the end of your visit. Do note that if you don’t bring a phone, you can rent a device at the exhibit.

Simply put, the Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. is a must-visit, especially for Marvel fans. Nowhere else will you get the chance to see real Marvel gear and take part in the one-of-a-kind activities. At worst, it’s a good way to pass the time while you wait for the next Marvel movie to hit theaters.
